ISLAMABAD —
The incoming president of the United Nations Common Meeting introduced Sunday that he was suspending a scheduled go to to Pakistan “as a consequence of some technical flight issues.”

Turkish diplomat Volkan Bozkir was elected president of the 75th session of the U.N. Common Meeting final month and was scheduled to reach in Islamabad on Sunday.

However in a Twitter publish, he stated the go to to Pakistan’s capital must wait.

Pakistan’s international minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi tweeted in response to Bozkir that “I sit up for welcoming you to Pakistan quickly for a constructive and fruitful go to.”

Whereas asserting the go to Saturday, a jubilant Qureshi had stated he hoped to debate a spread of points with Bozkir, together with the disputed Himalayan area of Kashmir, which is break up between Pakistan and neighboring India and claimed by each in its entirety. The 2 sides usually trade hearth in Kashmir, inflicting troop and civilian casualties.

Pakistan’s navy on Sunday stated it shot down a small Indian drone that flew 200 meters (650 toes) into Pakistani-administered Kashmir. It was the the 10th such downing of an Indian drone this yr. In a press release, the navy launched pictures of the drone downed close to the Pandu border village.

Relations between Pakistan and India have been strained over Kashmir since final August, when India revoked the decades-old semi-autonomous standing of Kashmir, which is majority Muslim. The transfer touched off anger in each Indian-controlled Kashmir and in Pakistan.

Pakistan needs the U.N. to play a job in resolving the difficulty. After India and Pakistan fought a warfare over Kashmir in 1948, the U.N. adopted resolutions that allowed for Kashmiris to determine whether or not they wish to merge with India, with Pakistan or whether or not they choose independence.

Pakistan and India have fought two of their three wars over the disputed area since gaining independence from British rule in 1947.
